Okay, so it’s not uncommon for our government to come down on the wrong side of liberty and freedom, but things are getting out of hand.
Rarely one to ‘do the right thing’ by taxpayers and citizens, the Internal Revenue Service is looking to earn a new moniker: The Inferno Revenue Service after granting tax-exempt status to satanic ‘religious’ groups while denying the same status to Christian and conservative organizations for years during the Obama reign of unconstitutionality and terror.
As noted by The Gateway Pundit, Obama’s IRS, in an effort led by then-IRS official Lois Lerner, for years delayed or blocked tax-exempt status applications filed by conservative and Christian groups, leading some to concur that it had a direct impact on the outcome of the 2012 presidential election (in which Obama won reelection).
There were hundreds of pro-conservative groups targeted by Lerner’s division, which was responsible for evaluating tax exemption claims. At least five pro-Israel groups were also targeted, as well as constitutional organizations, groups critical of the 44th president, and a 180-year-old Baptist newspaper.
But, according to Chicks on the Right:
Well guys, the Satanic Temple is “pleased” to announce that the IRS has given it tax-exempt status. Yeah– it’s been identified as a “church.” (It’s just as much of a “church” as the Church of Scientology IMHO.)
Last time I checked, paying tribute to Baphomet is kinda sorta Satanic. Just because you’re not singing songs to Satan himself doesn’t mean you’re not engaging in Satanic behavior. Humanism is– in a lot of ways– satanic.
As further reported by Fox News, “the Satanic Temple is now considered a church by the Internal Revenue Service and can apply for faith-based grants.” What’s more, the “non-theistic” organization, which is based in Salem, Mass., said it was “pleased” to be given the tax exempt status, though for years the group has advocated that other churches should lose theirs.
“The temple was founded to react to and restrict Christianity in public life and claims it does not worship the devil, as depicted in the Bible, but advocates for the separation of church and state,” Fox News continued.
“Satanism is here to stay,” Lucien Greaves, the spokesman for the Satanic Temple, said in a statement to Fox News, adding the tax-exempt status should “lay to rest any suspicion that we don’t meet the qualifications of a true religious organization.”
He added that the Satanic Temple has become the only federally recognized international satanic organization.
Ironically — or not — the IRS classifies the Satanic Temple as a “church or a convention or association of churches.” Under the “cause area” on the website, it is listed as a “Christian” group, which it says will help it in any religious discrimination cases. (Related: As Dems seek his tax returns, POTUS Trump has a chance to nullify an awful IRS regulation — and he SHOULD.)
So the Temple is hypocritical as well.
Still, it’s more than just ironic that the IRS would immediately grant tax-exempt status to a misidentified “Christian” organization whose members are satanic followers and who also engage in political activities — in violation of IRS rules for “churches.”
“Anti-authoritarian and democratic in principle, The Satanic Temple disregards Social Darwinism and engages directly in politically charged campaigns [my emphasis] to fight back against theocratic impositions into politics,” the group says on its website.
But, according to the IRS:
In 1954, Congress approved an amendment by Sen. Lyndon Johnson to prohibit 501(c)(3) organizations, which includes charities and churches, from engaging in any political campaign activity. To the extent Congress has revisited the ban over the years, it has in fact strengthened the ban.
More hypocrisy from another government agency that is filled with Marxists, Leftists, and anti-libertarians.
